Frequently asked questions

Everything you might want to know before you start. Can't find your answer? Our team is one message away.

General

Is NestAbroad a bank or a landlord?

No. NestAbroad is the technology layer that coordinates your journey. Accommodation is provided by suppliers, and regulated money movement by a licensed payment partner. We're clear about who's responsible for what.

How do you keep listings trustworthy?

Every listing is verified for source, terms and freshness before publication. We record a last-checked time and automatically suppress stale or disputed inventory.

What does 'pay in your local currency' mean?

After your booking is confirmed, you get a monthly schedule and pay each instalment in your supported local currency through a licensed partner — in the money you actually earn and spend.

Which countries can I move from and to?

At launch we support students moving from Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana to the United Kingdom, United States and Canada, with more corridors to follow.

Is my data safe?

Yes. We collect only what's needed, store consent as versioned evidence, and never expose sensitive data in links. You can view, correct and withdraw where the law allows.

For students

Is my accommodation guaranteed?

A booking is confirmed only once the provider records their response. We never imply guaranteed acceptance — you always see the real status and the responsible provider.

How do I actually pay?

NestAbroad presents your monthly schedule and hands you to a licensed payment partner's secure checkout. NestAbroad never stores your card or bank credentials.

What if I'm under 18?

Younger students go through an assisted, guardian-consent flow before self-service continues. Safeguarding comes first.

Paying in local currency

Which currencies are supported?

The pilot supports selected local currencies such as NGN, KES and GHS, subject to partner coverage. Your available currency is shown before checkout.

Does NestAbroad hold my money?

No. A licensed partner accepts and moves the money. Where protected-funds arrangements apply, the partner holds and releases funds, not NestAbroad.

Guarantor support

Is approval guaranteed?

No. Housing Hand makes the decision based on their eligibility criteria. NestAbroad shows you the honest outcome and next action.
